Understanding the sovereignty of God is freedom. God has dominion over everything visible and invisible. The knowledge of who our Father is and His role in our lives frees us to do His perfect will with excellence. I am free to operate in ministry with all of me without being weighed down with the cares of finances, resources, eternity, issues, drama, and such. This means that I can blog with joy despite the deadlines and due dates that I lack the means to presently address. God does not want us to walk around or even worse hide under rocks because of our circumstances; we are free. The enemy loves for us to forfeit our spiritual freedom for anxiety, stress, worry, and fear. When we do this, we are choosing slavery to temporal circumstances over the freedom of peace. Right now, what are you worried about that God is in control of? How would it look if you were free to soar without fear? I know that I am soaring when I am out of my comfort zone, fears become irrelevant, dreams are tangible, and my gaze is fixed on Jesus. I am airborne, surely, when I do what I was created to do. It takes faith to operate in your calling as it does not always pay the bills. We must be assured that God will take care of the logistics.
“’Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” Isaiah 41:10
“Anxiously looking about you,” may refer to searching inwardly for answers that only God can provide or relying on social media or others for solutions to spiritual problems. I know that I am called to ministry. To that end, God has audibly instructed me to focus on ministry: blogging, uplifting those in bondage or hurting, using poetry and prose to draw others to Christ, and sharing my testimony. What I do not know is the “how.” How will I fund the 501 (c) (3) status that I need to receive charitable donations? How will I obtain speaking engagements? How will I market the ministry? “How will I?” is the problem! The truth of the matter is, when God has a work to be done in His kingdom, He divinely orchestrates its execution with supreme authority. God does not need our help. Then, of course, I want to know the “when.” I am not privy to the “when” either; however, I do know the “Who!” My employer is the Lord and at the appointed time I will receive my instructions, resources, and deadline for my assignment. I need not worry about my ability to perform the task at hand as the Creator of the Universe tailor-made me for the job. What has God freed you to do in His Kingdom as a blessing to others?
Hallelujah! I have come to understand that when we operate outside of our liberty we are selfishly choosing to be burdened over being a blessing. Our being blessed blesses others. I will use my gift of poetry, prose, and testimony to tell the masses of God’s goodness but I forget about the masses when my focus is on the impossibilities of the “how” & “when!” There are parts of me that remain afraid of being completely free as I’ve been a slave to fear for so long. This reminds me of someone who has been a prisoner all their lives, so much so that even if the walls came tumbling down they would still operate as if they were still subject to that prison. I refuse to pretend that the prison gates were not opened for me to walk through for fear. Lord help me overcome the barriers within myself that are limiting me from experiencing complete and total freedom in You, in the name Jesus, Amen. Have you ever noticed that there are always attacks on our freedom? It is partly because free Christians are in a better position to win other potential converts to Christ. Some of us wake up every morning and put that proverbial chain around our necks by worrying about things that are absolutely under God’s rule.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” Romans 6:22
How do we get free? First, we surrender to Christ. Next, we become slaves to Jesus, as slaves of righteousness we commit to living for Him for the rest of our lives which sets us free. We obey the voice of the Spirit and not the voice of our flesh or our enemy. When the enemy tempts us to fear, we have faith. When our flesh wants to pity itself, we have a praise party. Our instincts may tell us to isolate ourselves, we go out and fellowship with other believers. Every second we have opportunities to choose freedom. God will handle the how’s and when’s of our assignments. Our task is to remain faithful and believe. How has believing in God’s authority over everything changed your inner peace? Our freedom is directly impacted by what we believe. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for our sins, therefore we have eternal life. Also, we know in our hearts that Our Lord is sovereign, thus we need not worry or fear. Furthermore, we believe that we are unconditionally loved, chosen, separated, provided and cared for, thus we are free. We declare in the name Jesus that we are free, despite what attempts to bind us, and we believe it. Watch miracles proliferate as our faith prompts God to tear down the walls that have held us, hostage, too long.
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” 1 John 5:13
Admittingly, there are fewer chains around me than before
Lord, I also admit that I want the rest of these chains no more
I want freedom to boldly walk in my God-given authority
Often, I feel inferior to mere men, but You call me royalty
Now I realize that even the bondage is under Your rule
Even the slavery, brokenness, are used as Your tools
To get me prepped for my purpose, surely this calling is GREAT
My Dad has a time for me to shine, Dad is never late
Faith was the key, to unlock every strong chain
Today, I soar freely, free indeed, in Jesus name!
