Affliction

Can you say “Hallelujah,” and mean it

When you’re throat is parched from unquenched thirst?

Could Jesus, get a “Thank you!”

When everything you love appears to be cursed?

Are you able to worship

When everything on the inside hurts?

What about if you gave it your best

And nothing you tried works?

Would you remember that God is Sovereign,

Or would your praise be rehearsed?

The circumstances are unending

But so is His rule

Could it be that hardship is just a tool?

Used by Yahweh, illuminating the content of our hearts

Affliction has a way of revealing our strongest and weakest parts

Upon completion of establishing godly virtue

Intense pain will subside because it finished what it came to do
