Casualties of war. The carcasses of saints either ineffective in ministry or absent altogether linger about. We must stand guard and pray or become one in that number. Our prayers go out for the Lord to do restorative work in those brothers and sisters. God will use prophets, and messengers to warn us of the dangers we are facing for either losing focus, idol worship, or being deceived by the enemy. Satan attempted to spiritually decapitate me. He wanted me to start questioning everything God told me so that doubt became my new favorite beverage to drink in the morning. Waking up sipping, and stewing on his lies. Once I opened the door, Satan easily added fear and discouragement to my morning cup. Defeat did not have to assail me, every morning, as a cup of tea, I would pick it up. Drinking it all in.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
The impossibilities abounded, as I would attempt to read my morning devotionals which promised a fullness, of life. I could not help but compare the fullness God promised to the emptiness I felt. But how was I empty when I got up and read my devotionals every morning, committed myself to the Lord, and loved Him with everything in me? It was my beverage. That cup of destructive tea, full of empty calories, it filled me up with falsehood leaving no room for the things of God. The Lord sent mature believers to reiterate what Jesus said. “Empty yourself of yourself and make room for God!” Also, stop trying to resuscitate what I am killing in you. It is dying for a reason. Hallelujah. Everything you asked me for is at hand, just let the dead things die and by all means live; empty and full.
“For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Mark 8:35
